Real Talks Podcast
A weekly podcast hosted by Alan O’Mara. Each Real Talks episode provides a prominent Irish figure with the opportunity to talk about life lessons, leadership, resilience, purpose, sport, passions and much more during a relaxed, meaningful and entertaining conversation. In Season 1, we hear from ten of the most fascinating and intriguing characters in modern GAA, including Dublin’s four time All-Ireland winner Kevin McManamon and Brendan Maher, Tipperary’s All-Ireland winning captain of 2016.
Real Talks Mental Health and Resilience Presentation
Since Real Talks was founded in 2016, over 5,000 people have benefited from hearing Alan deliver this presentation and we have become renowned for the mixture of honesty, insight, humour and passion that we inject into the topic of health and wellbeing.
During each dialogue, Alan shares key experiences and learning’s from his journey through depression and uses them as a catalyst to start a meaningful conversations with others on the importance of looking after yourself, being more aware of others and having more real talks on a daily basis.
As part of this offering, each participant gets an eight page information booklet to take home and we also evaluate the session to prove our impact.

The Best Is Yet To Come
As well as being the founder of Real Talks, Alan O’Mara is also the author of the best-selling memoir ‘The Best Is Yet To Come.’ The book is about the highs and lows of life and the thinking, questioning and wondering his depressed mind went through.
A Gaelic footballer with Cavan and an Ulster u21 champion, he became the first active senior inter-county player to go public about experiencing depression in 2013. Since then, Alan has become a leading mental health advocate and is a wellbeing ambassador to the HSE’s ‘Little Things’ campaign and the Gaelic Player’s Association.
